fingerprint device constraint

due to the constrain of the device, i need to change something on my system to make it work..
for now, the sdk for verifying user is not available. Therefore, i'm going to brief through the new system.

the panel clinic side will be changed to offline mode as the fingerprint sdk only support windows application instead of web based application. Logically, i'll change the web-based sites that i have built to windows application, then from there, i'll get the try integrating the fingerprint with it. There will be registering of staff and family members in the utm. But no fingerprint will be registered there. The fingerprint will be registered by the clinic staff.

When a staff go to a clinic, they provide a staffID which the utm admin will check with the utm database. If validated, enroll process will begin. Then for the second visit, the staff will only need to scan their fingerprint to authenticate their identity. This process is needed as there is constraint of the fingerprint device.

The device only allowed verification within the device itself, i could not extract out the fingerprint template out of the device as it has been blocked to do so. I also hope that i could use the available sdk to extract out the staffID instead of the boolean value that only can be returned to the windows application. This is important as staffID will be used as parameter to get user's profile and proceed to the billing page.

UTM admin visit.

25/8
I went to UTM HEP to gather more detail for my fyp. Luckily Cik Fatahiyah still remembers me after 1 year. haha.. OK, back to business.. this is wat i get from the Q&A session.

1) When a staff wanted to add a spouse or children, do you need any proof??
Yes, for spouse, the utm staff will need to supply the wife IC together with the marriage certificate.
As for the children, we need to get the child's birth certificate.

2) What if the staff have more than 1 spouse and lots of kids?
Yes, the staff can claim for every family members if the wife and kids are legally registered in law.

3) What is the children maximum age to have the claim?
If the child stop studying after secondary school, the maximum age would be 18.
But if the child continue till university, the maximum age would be 24.

4) Children should put under who's name if both parents are UTM staff?
Both.

5) Do UTM support the staff parents or siblings?
Yes, UTM support the biological parents but not siblings.

6) When a clinic wanted to register as Panel Clinic, what documents do you need?
We need the clinic license. The procedure is complex. The clinic would need to send in formal letter to utm to apply. We will then choose some of the potential clinic to be sent to JPU(Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Universiti) to decide whether to apply or reject. Then only we will register the clinic.

7) What do UTM need to see when clinic send bill? ( type of drugs?)
We will only look at the total amount from each clinic, then we need to see each resit of individual staff. We do not need the drugs detail as we do not know much of the drug's information.

8) Does a staff have limitation when having a claim?
For normal case, it's RM50. But if it's chronic, it's RM70.

9) How often the billing is done??
Monthly.

Well, tat's actually covers almost all i need to do in the fyp..
For now, i can see a grave waiting me to go in, hopefully, i will have ample time to design and development all this in time. There are too many dependencies around and i need to actually join them in a efficient way. This session provides me lots of information and i'm glad that it's still early. Fuh... fyp, here we go!!

Demo1

24/8 - I met with Cik Hazinah for the demonstration purposes. The demonstration seemed ok to both of us. She gave me some idea on what to be done or can be improved on.
1) Font should be a little bit bigger.
2) Localhost cannot be used( she recommended using apache server - web and database server)
3) Should development simple application for panel clinic side.
4) I have prepared some questions and will need to approach utm admin for better explanation.
5) Borrow Fingerprint device for the coming holiday.
6) Start writing fyp2 report. ( details can be download from Mr Firoz's website)
7) Hopefully fyp2 can include fingerprint function.

updates..

21/8 - I had done with the connection between the website and the database.
Should be ok for now. I had also list down some questions that to ask the person in charge of panel clinic. Well, i think after the demo, i will go to see the person for detail. Haven done the billing part. have to get better idea on how they wanna see the bill sent by clinics. oh ya, for the coming 2 weeks holiday, i think i will try to make everything run smoothly for the website.. until then, i think the fingerprint device can be taken from whoever that has been keeping it!

simple updates.

i have seen others updating the important dates sent to us by En Firoz.
Things i need to do is to book the lab for the first demonstration..
Sadly to say, i have been spending my time on sukam, english presentation and the ihack competition.. But, i need to say that i have already managed to touch up with 80% the functionality of the FPCS system. The web is flowing smoothly without the linkage with the database. This is due to the fact that i have only prepare the database but have not link to the web that i have created. Hopefully i could finish it before 1st demo.
Plus : 1 of the fingerprint device is broken and indeed that's not very helpful. Sharing is needed for the one and the only one device.

1st update

15/7

I have idea on how to take user's fingerprint and the interface of it.
But, somehow, it seemed that is quite impossible to do it with asp.net.
what i have plan is to import some javascript inside my asp.net project and see how it goes..
Well, basically, i have to only concern of the functionality for now, but hopefully i could get it somehow done for the first demo...

Going to get the fingerprint device by today as i met with the technician.
Gonna study it then.. hopefully, i can demonstrate my project together with the fingerprint device.

for now, i have already started building some simple interface for my FPCS project and i wanted to see the overall flow before getting into details of designing..

New beginning - PSM 2

13/7
- Met with Cik Hazinah for the first meeting. I have not started my psm2 in technically but i have done something which includes sketches of the interface design, some addition and modification of the database content.
- I went to look for the technician who in charge of the fingerprint device but she is not around.. I will probably find him again. But, i got a new laptop which have fingerprint device embedded. I wish to use it but i haven't figure out how to link that to Visual Studio. I will then take some time to do some research on it..
- I'm going to use VS 2008 for the psm2 implementation. I will update once i have some module or documentation done.
- For now, as i haven't borrow the hardware, i'm going to start the coding of the interface first. That's all for now.
